The Alchemy of Your Origin Story

“Origin: the point or place where something begins, arises, or is derived.” -Oxford Dictionary

You probably don’t remember your first arrival into this life. The stories of your birth may have been passed down to you through memories, stories, and perspectives of your loved ones. You took these stories into yourself and integrated them into your being. A challenging or joyful birth, a good baby or a difficult baby. These are likely the first stories you heard about the origin of You.

Undoubtedly, you have experienced an entire collection of new beginnings along the unfolding of your life. You are likely to experience many more.

Close your eyes for a moment. Recall your earliest memory of a new beginning. Moving to a new home, meeting a new family member, your first day of school.

Whether in large ways or small, the You before this origin, and the You after are different. A change occured.

Stories have been shared for many generations across families and communities, often through books, and movies. They tell of the creation of the hero and the villain. The Origin Story.

Points on your timeline. Milestones. Watershed moments. All fibers woven into the tapestry of your life story.

Embodiment practices link the body and the mind. They enliven the connections that carry information, sensation, and transformation into and out of the body. You see, everything is in a constant relationship of giving and receiving, and that includes YOU.

I invite you to take a few moments today to consider your story. Who have you become? Who are you becoming? At what points did you discover that a relapse or a setback was actually a preparation to launch you to a place beyond your original dream?
